May 2009 - Made Decision to Go Natural
May 2009-April 2010 (11months) - Transitioned to Natural
April 10, 2010 - Did Big Chop and Became Officially Natural
I am 8 months natural.
I've always had short hair. ALWAYS. And by short I mean ear length. My relaxed hair never touched my neck. I'd been relaxed since I was 5 years old. I accepted that my hair would never be healthy or long and I never really LOVED my hair. So my sophomore year in high school (2009), I cut my hair into a Rihanna style cut. I liked it, but once again, I did not love my hair. I felt like I had to settle..and settling NEVER feels good.

May 2009 I broke the Golden Rule of the relaxing process. I scratched my scalp during that 3 day period prior to the relaxer. I'd done this maybe twice before in my life but that time the pain was truly excruciating. I felt like my scalp was on fire! Like, literal fire! Did I mention that I used Super Relaxers? Worst Invention Ever.
So on that day, the day of my last relaxer, I vowed to never get a relaxer again. My rationale at that point was, Why do I have to go through all of this hell just so society can tell me that I'm pretty?
And I haven't turned back since.
Stay tuned for my Transitioning Tales!
Comments are ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS welcome.
Thanks,
Lexi
